Marcus Stroman tries to win his fourth consecutive decision today when the Toronto Blue Jays close out a three-game series with the Minnesota Twins at Rogers Centre. While the NFL is an economic behemoth, the assumption should not necessarily be that it got its hands on the video. The league does not have subpoena power (or the ability to compel the production of evidence). That is not to say the NFL did not see it. Still, to assume the league did see it is perhaps premature. If NFL officials previously viewed the video, and it was part of the leagues deliberations, Commissioner Roger Goodell will not be able to increase the suspension. Rice cannot be punished twice for the same offence even in the face of public backlash. And the NFLPA will make sure of that.
